Homework 1 stats

Hi all,

  Homework 1 grades are out. The average score is 45.9 out of a possible 60. The standard deviation is 14.2.

  The two most common mistakes were

  (1) q1 - Not normalizing the eigen vectors (from [1, 1] to [1/sqrt(2), 1/sqrt(2)]) -- a loss of one mark.

  (2) q2 - Not realizing that when an irrelevant document is shown, the recall stays put, but the precision goes down, and that fact should reflect on the graph. -- a loss of 3 marks.
